《Summer Concerto: Dai Dandan, Huang Xu Twofold Solo Exhibition》 due to open at Triumph Art Space on June 22, is composed of two parts, Dai Dandan: Woven Freedom and Huang Xu: Breaking-In, putting on display the latest 20ish works by each artist. Being a feat to the eye itself, this exhibition is bound to orchestrate a concerto of love to viewers at the height of summer days.

As the growth of the internal world is based on the construct of reason, the human beings, fettered in their own limitations, always confine themselves to a generalized form of such intensity that they never manage to transcend their understanding and thinking of the outside world. The visual landscape, in its purest form, constitutes any of the cross sections on the time line, and incorporates a stable structure. Dai Dandan insulates herself from the real world by building a visual space of sheer reason through the artifice of weaving, and succeeds in eliminating the uncertainties in our perceptions with the image “perfect.” Dai Dandan takes a firm hold on the entirety with her rational weaving throughout the creating process, and by way of imagery, this ideal, even deceiving mode conceptualizes an orderly reality, with which the real world in chaos interact in such a tension that the nature of the aesthetic “game” is revealed.

Huang Xu, with his Cloud series, disrupts our established impressions of the objects in our daily lives, and evokes refreshing visual perceptions by abandoning the functional meanings of the objects and regrouping their formal states. The concept of photography, coming from the west, originally means the writing of light, and provides the most direct way of expression to represent reality. Huang Xu pushes to the frontline the social issues come across by his contemporaries in the face of variegated cultures in his reshaping of the ordinary, and reveals the intersection of the society in one graphic content. Huang also projects self-meditation onto the legends of his works, thus deepening our understanding of the relationship between man and his outsider world, and allowing the subject to take on an alternative appearance to carry on the cultural legacy as well as adapting to the changing environment, ushering in a pure reality for the viewer.

Not to be closed until July 31, the exhibition awaits your visit.
