TRIUMPH GALLERY is pleased to announce that the gallery will attend the 5th edition of JIANART at T-10 / SKP-S from May 23 to 26, 2024,  gallery Booth A24.

In this Art fair, the Gallery will present Xu Qu‘s solo project SPECIAL COLUMN: NO EVIL, NO JOY.

For a long time, Xu Qu has conveyed his attitude towards society and his understanding of the world through artistic practice, exploring the interconnections between social systems in different dimensions and fields. His artistic practice is diversified, involving painting, performance, video, installation, and sculpture. At the end of last year, Xu Qu's solo exhibition NO EVIL, NO JOY at Nanshan Society was precisely a refinement of "evil" in his works and an embodiment of a "bad" attitude.

Xu Qu's exploration begins with an acute observation of the minutiae within his field of vision, allowing him to derive profound insights from the subtle details. From the corner of a banknote to the smudged color patches on a hand towel, from discarded Buddhist wood carvings to the animals around him, his exploration originates from a keen and profound understanding of social reality. He navigates through various value systems and aesthetic experiences, extending his reflections on the interconnectedness of societal systems. Independently operating systems are interrelated, ultimately weaving the tapestry of human existence. As Xu Qu articulates, without humans, all value systems cease to exist and become invalid.
