2023.08.25

TRIUMPH GALLERY is pleased to announce the representation of the artist Lu Hao (b.1969, China). Lu Hao's work is currently exhibiting in the group exhibition SONATA FORM # 2023. The exhibition is open to the public from July 22nd to Sep16th, 2023.

Lu Hao's works are leisurely and powerful, and they are typical sugar-coated bullets.

Sugarcoat enchants people, whilebullets break hearts. His restraining and expansion in the same depth are sharp weapons that combat human visionand spiritual world.

—— Sugar-Coated Bullets by Huang Liaoyuan

From familiar and strange "cities" to common "things" in cities, there are only “things” but no “human” in nearly all of Lu Hao's works, and behind “things” of all forms and sorts is the artist's profound concern for people's survivalconditions and fates, which is exactly the essence of an inquiry of “human” into “things” in Lu Hao's works. In hiseyes, the barbaric growth of urban cities is a kind of “dissimilation” and there is no lack of acts against humanity inthe name of “human”. What is worthy of our reflections is that cities are the cities of humans instead of the citiesof architectures, roads and bridges, the cities of automobiles, costumes and foods, or the cities of flowers, birds, insects and fishes. Only if the planning and construction, renewal and development of cities have fully embodied thewish and will of citizens, can the essence of “people-oriented” value be recovered and the sense of insecurity andanxiety in the urban life be eliminated.
