Zhang Kai: The Tender Ruins 2021.9.25 - 10.25 Opening: 2021.9.25 16:00 Hwas Gallery (Shanghai): West wing, long museum No.3398, long teng av, xuhui dst, shanghai This time, Zhang Kai's latest solo exhibition "The Tender Ruins", sponsored by Shanghai Hwas Gallery and co-organized by Beijing Triumph Gallery, opened at Hwas Gallery on September 25, and will last until October 25. Zhang Kai's artistic creation is mainly divided into two ways, one is the misappropriation of the works of classic masters, and the other is the spiritual "metaphorical" narrative. In many works, the two are often blended together.

Zhang Kai

Zhang Kai was born in 1985 in Shanxi, China. He graduated from the School of Arts, Shanxi Normal University, currently works and lives in Beijing.

In his painting, the protagonists are personified and spiritualized cats and rabbits, which present the tranquil, mysterious and poetic atmosphere. Through the synthesis and reconstruction of the classical and the contemporary, Zhang Kai presents his thinking on time, spirit, appearance and essence, starting from his analysis of art history from the contemporary perspective, and his own aesthetic tendencies.
